People are panic buying seeds, too

I wrote earlier about panic buying of chickens. Turns out people are panic buying seeds, too! As we’ve been getting ready to start the garden for the year, I have been looking for a few seeds to round out the garden. In our case, we are adding a few more grains. We already have purchased seeds or have them in stock from last year. We use mostly open pollinated seed, so we can save seed from year to year, plus have a surplus from what we’ve purchased in years past. Anyway, while shopping at a number of seed suppliers, I saw how lots of seed is out of stock and that the suppliers seem swamped with orders.

I came across the following article which confirmed what I suspected – people are panic buying seeds. Hopefully this starts a larger conversation on our food system, the economy, and sustainability.
